ISPO Award winner for 2024, and it’s easy to see why: the Hailot Freeride is one of the few helmets that earns both its ski and mountaineering certifications without compromising either. Dual certified to EN 1077 (ski/snowboard) and EN 12492 (mountaineering), it covers everything from freeride lines to high-altitude objectives in a single piece of kit.
At 360g it’s genuinely light for the protection package it carries. The Air Flow ventilation is well-placed for touring use. It provides enough airflow on hard efforts that you’re not cooking on the skin track, without the heat dump that poorly designed vent systems create on cold descents. The xtra-lite summer inner lining is removable, making it a four-season helmet for mountaineering and climbing. A flexible headlamp mounting system sits at the front of the shell, compatible with most standard headlamps and stable enough for technical use. The 3D Fit 360 adjustment dials in fit at the rear and height, and the elastic chin strap attachment works cleanly with gloves or mitts.
The MIPS layer handles rotational energy dissipation on oblique impacts. RECCO reflector built in. Twiceme technology embedded in the shell stores emergency info accessible by NFC, and the Eyewear Storage System keeps goggles or sunglasses secured while skinning. A removable cap adds sun protection when the helmet comes off.
Sized in two head circumference options: Size 1 (55–59cm) and Size 2 (59–63cm).
