The Nano-Air Ultralight is half the insulation weight of the standard Nano-Air Light: 20g FullRange versus 40g. That's a deliberate choice for a very specific use case: high-output mountain days where any more insulation would have you overheating on every sustained pitch, but bare arms in spitting snow or a cold wind isn't the answer either.
The insulation runs through the hood, shoulders, upper arms, chest, and back. The underarms are bare panels of the shell fabric for maximum ventilation right where you generate the most heat. Lower sleeve panels are Capilene Cool Lightweight double knit: stretchy, moisture-wicking, and quick-drying, so you can push sleeves up over your forearms on a hard effort without fighting a stiff cuff. The Light Touch Expansion Hood fits over or without a helmet and pulls on or off with the jacket fully zipped. Shell is 1.6oz 30-denier recycled polyester shadow stretch ripstop with PFAS-free DWR.
The chest pocket is generously sized for essentials, and the whole hoody stuffs into it with a carabiner clip-in loop. Slim fit sits clean under a harness or a pack without bunching. At 249g it's the piece that lives in the top lid of the pack and comes out at belays, summit stops, and any moment where the wind picks up.
